Our Field with White Row Covers and Red Sand Bags

It’s been chilly many nights in the past couple weeks. We have put out long rows of white covers to protect our leafy greens like tatsoi, bok choi, lettuce, arugula, and mustards. We have been harvesting and donating a nice box or two of mixed greens the past couple weeks.

Friends, It has been an extraordinary year for us Friends, It has been an extraordinary year for us all! On the eve of #givingtuesday
we ask that you take a moment to consider making a tax deductible donation to Aurelia's Garden. We are thankful for the wonderful community we have built this year @aurelias.garden Together, we have raised over 1Ton of produce for food pantries in Maynard and Medway Massachusetts. We know we can raise over 10 Tons next year! Our winter crops are safely tucked inside our low tunnels and hoop house, dreaming of becoming a nutritious dinner for someone in the coming months. Any contribution you can make will allow us to grow even more food and help feed even more of our neighbors struggling with food insecurity. Visit our website, aureliasgarden.org, to read our annual letter. Link to our annual appeal is in our bio, please share! thank you!
As we humbly tend this land to grow food to supply As we humbly tend this land to grow food to supply local emergency hunger relief efforts, we give thanks to the land and extend solidaroty to the Pawtucket tribe that once called ki their home. We strive to honor that past by seeking to farm within nature, part of the ecosystem, not beside or apart from ki. We give thanks to the ancestors of this land as we give thanks to each other.

Wrapping up the plot we helped @medwaycommunityfar Wrapping up the plot we helped @medwaycommunityfarm transition this unused portion of their field to a dedicated food pantry gardening space this season! Final social distance selfie of the season for the @aurelias.garden crew, we had fun volunteering our time to help this #communityfarm reach its goal to provide food for their town food pantries!

Don't worry, we're still #growingstrong at our homebase field in Wayland!

We sent our Thanksgiving best harvest to @opentablema today including beautiful butternut squashes, potatoes, turnips, radishes, salad turnips, fennel, lettuce, tat soi, the very last of our tomatoes (Yes! Tomatoes that we picked green over a month ago and have been ripening in our hoophouse since!) and a wonderful array of yummy mixed greens!

We also planted over 1000 garlic cloves... but that's another story! 😋

Soaking up the sun today and working hard to prep Soaking up the sun today and working hard to prep for garlic planting next week! These ladies moved, spread, and incorporated into the soil, 1300lbs of composted cow manure! All by hand! Next week, we will be planting several hundred cloves of garlic for harvest next July!

We are grateful to do this work, on this land, and with each other! #growfood #growcommunity #organicvegetables #garlic #organicgarlic #foodpantry #foodpantryfarm @opentablema #womenwhofarm
Almost time to plant our garlic! We will be amendi Almost time to plant our garlic! We will be amending the soil this week then planting over 750 cloves, spanning 8 different varieties of gorgeous organic garlic 'seed'! So excited for next July! We will have mostly hard neck varieties, but also 2 soft neck varieties for braiding! Braided garlic, onions and shallots are easy to hang up and out of the way in the kitchen, and are an extra special, lovely touch to send off to the @opentablema food pantry!

Really proud of these ladies, and all our volunteer farming force here @aurelias.garden! It's been a season of growth in many many ways. With many years of gardening skills, most of our team is new to farming and the extra level of commitment, dedication, and exertion it requires. Through 97 degree days, drought, lightning and hail, frosty mornings and drizzly afternoons, we have not wavered! Getting season extension strategies in place, we plan to harvest ur organic produce for @opentablema through Thanksgiving and into the early winter!
